Most driveway failures — sunken blocks, rocking edges, puddles that won't drain — come from one source: an inadequate sub-base. A beautiful herringbone pattern on 50mm of crusher run is not a driveway. It's a temporary surface waiting to fail. Jackson's groundworks background means every monoblock driveway paving project starts with proper excavation to 250-300mm, a compacted MOT Type 1 sub-base, a sharp sand laying course and correctly installed edge restraints. The blocks go down last — after everything underneath is done properly.

MOT Type 1 Sub-Base
Heavy-duty compacted aggregate base machine-compacted in layers to guarantee zero settlement.
Drainage Integration
Falls calculated so surface water drains to a linear channel or edge restraint — not into your garden or neighbour's property.
Block Laying & Pointing
Herringbone, basketweave or straight bond, precision laid with kiln-dried sand pointing and machine compaction to final level.
Patterns & Styles
We lay herringbone (45 and 90 degree), basketweave and running bond. Edging courses and contrast borders in charcoal or natural stone finish the look. We work with Marshalls, Brett and Tobermore — or advise on the best product for your property and budget.
